Naturally infested whorl-stage field corn was treated 22 Jun. Nine insecticides and 1 untreated control were replicated 4 times. All plots consisted of contiguous rows, each 12 m long with 76-cm spacing. Sprays were applied in water (20 gal/acre) with a COs-powered backpack sprayer equipped with a broadcast boom. Nozzles were Delavan HC 12, 70 degree. Dry products were premeasured for treated area and were applied by hand with a funnel/bander system designed for this purpose. Stalks were split from 10 Jul 10 through 12 Jul. Twenty stalks/plot were split from ground level to the top of the plant. Shotholes/20 plants, tunnels/20 plants, larvae + pupae/20 plants, and percent of plants infested were recorded.
