Taxus sprigs (10-15 cm) protruding from culture tubes were used to evaluate topical toxicity of soaps against black vine weevil adults. A CO2 compression sprayer operating at 20 psi was used 26 Aug to apply materials to run-off to 3 taxus sprigs harboring a total of 15 ovipositing weevils. One sprayed sprig was placed in each of 3 9- by 16-cm cylindrical paper cartons fitted with nylon organdy cloth lids, along with 5 of the sprayed weevils. Treatment effects were evaluated 5 d later.
