Two insecticides applied at 2 rates were evaluated for efficacy in controlling a cranberry leafminer at East Haddam, CT. Plots of 1 X 1-yd size were arranged in a randomized block design, with 4 replicates per treatment on 24 Apr, and 4 on 30 Apr. Insecticides were applied to runoff with a 1-qt Farnam All-Purpose Pressure Sprayer. Air temp during application was 50°F on 24 Apr and 65°F on 30 Apr. A 0.1-inch rain fell in the 6-h period after treatment on 24 Apr. Larvae were 1st and 2nd instars at application time, with 96% in the 1st instar on 24 Apr and 66% in this instar on 30 Apr. One hundred mines per plot (10 from 10 different upright stems) were microscopically examined 2 wk after treatment to determine % mortality.
