Collards were transplanted 25 May near Benson, NC. Treatment plots were replicated 4 times in a randomized complete block design. Plots consisted of single rows 10 ft long on 42-inch centers and were mulched with black plastic. Treatments were made using a CO2 pressurized backpack sprayer with a single hollow cone nozzle delivering 100 gal/acre at 40 psi. Applications were made on 9, 16, 23, 30 Jun, 7, 18, 25 Jul, 3 and 10 Aug. Plyac spreader-sticker was added to all treatments. Insect counts were made on 9, 16 and 29 Jun, and damage ratings were made 29 Jun, 19 Jul and 8 Aug.
