Field and greenhouse trials were conducted simultaneously. Field. Slugs were collected from commercial cabbage fields from 9-11 Oct, and transferred to plots set up in an RCB design with 4 replicates at the Vegetable Research Farm near Geneva, NY. Ten slugs were placed on 1 selected plant/plot on 11 Oct and the following day treatments were applied. Foliar insecticides were applied with a 2-row tractor-mounted boom, having 3 nozzles/row and delivering 35 gal/acre at 50 psi. Deadline bait (4% Metaldehyde) was applied in a line of drops 3-4 inches apart around the infested plant. Seventy-two hours after treatment slugs were counted on the dissected plants, the ground around the plants, and adjacent plants.
