Three separately pastured groups of cattle were ear tagged (1 tag/hd) the first week of Jun with 1 of the following insecticide tags; Guardian flucyfhrinate (7.5% AI), Ectrin fenvalerate (8.0% AI), or Fearing permethrin (94.0% AI). The groups with Guardian or Ectrin tags each contained 50 Hereford x Angus yearling heifers. The group with Fearing tags consisted of 16 mixed breed cattle of various ages and sex. An untagged group of 23 Hereford x Angus heifers served as a control. Face fly counts were made once/week from 14 Jun-2 Aug on 10 randomly selected cattle from each group between 1:00 and 3:00 p.m.
