Each insecticide treatment was applied to a single block of about 1 hectare of native pecan trees (each 12 meters high and a canopy 12 meters in diameter) using a speed sprayer with the insecticides applied in a dilute solution sprayed to drip. The timing of applications was determined primarily by periodic examination of pecan nutlets for pecan nut casebearer (PNC) eggs and evidence of larval hatch. Environmental conditions from budbreak to the time of PNC oviposition may prolong larval hatch and thus require 2 insecticide treatments 7-10 days apart to manage the 1st summer generation. Treatment evaluations were made about 3 weeks after treatment by analyzing nut damage.
