Several procedures have been described to correct pectus excavatum and carinatum. We have used a modified Ravitch procedure (STRATOS titanium bars) for patients who were unsuitable for the minimally invasive Nuss procedure. The operation produced excellent cosmetic results, but we have noted several fractures and displacements of the STRATOS bars.
