We hypothesized that preconditioning (PC) with stromal-derived factor 1 alpha (SDF-1) significantly enhances cell survival, proliferation, and engraftment of bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) via SDF-1/CXCR4 signaling.
