On propose une version revisee d'une communication proposee a l'Universite de Manchester sur l'architecture des systemes de bases de donnees de connaissance de grande taille. Il avait ete convenu de mettre en place un groupe de travail compose de representants de milieux industriels et d'institutions academiques. L'objectif de ce groupe a ete de preciser l'ensemble des concepts semantiques en etudiant une large gamme de representations de connaissances, y compris celles des modeles de bases de donnees, des differentes logiques formelles, des reseaux semantiques, des systemes de production, des langages de programmation logique, des systemes bases sur le materiel, etc.
