This experiment was conducted in a first leaf commercial ‘Scartlet’ orchard on M.7 rootstock near Malaga, WA. Plots consisted of single trees, with buffer trees between trees. Two shoots per tree were tagged, and all counts were taken from tagged shoots. The aphid population on the shoot was assessed by counting individual aphids on the most infested leaf on the shoot. Pre-treatment counts were used as a blocking factor for randomization. Treatments were applied with a handgun to the point of drip on 25 Jul. Post-treatment counts were taken ca. weekly until late Aug.
