A small plot test was conducted at the Texas A&M Research and Extension Center in Weslaco, Texas, to evaluate selected insecticides for efficacy against foliar aphids on cabbage. Plots measured two rows (40 inch centers) by 25 feet, with two-row sorghum wind breaks between plots. Treatments were arranged in a RCB design with four replications. Insecticides were applied with a CO2 pressurized (40 psi) backpack sprayer in a total volume of 30 gal per acre. Nozzle arrangement consisted of three 10X nozzles per row (one over-top, 2 on drops). Treatments were applied 12 and 20 Apr. Aphids were monitored by random selection of 5 plants per plot and counting all apterous aphids present.
