This experiment was located in Prattsburg, New York, on Franjo Farms and was designed to compare labeled compounds. Treatments, replicated four times, were planted on 3 May and consisted of two rows (20 ft long) with a 5 ft buffer separating replications. Two unsprayed buffer rows were located between treatments. The plot was completely randomized. Sprays were applied using a CO2 backpack sprayer equipped with 4 nozzles delivering 100 gal water/acre. A sticker (Bond) and a wetter (Silwet) were applied with all treatments at the rate of 8 ft oz/100 gal. Thrips counts were made on 10 plants/treatment/replication by direct field observation using a 10X head visor. This test was designed to determine if a weekly spray schedule of labeled compounds had any effect on yields when compared to a treatment threshold spray program of 3 thrips/leaf. Applications were initiated on 25 Aug. Only two weekly sprays and one threshold spray were applied since thrips populations did not begin to increase until late season.
