The response of geocorids and nabids to selected insecticides used for control of soybean loopers and velvetbean caterpillars on soybeans was examined in a small plot insecticide trial at the St. Gabriel Research Station in Iberville Parish, LA. Treatments were applied to ‘Buckshot 723’ soybean in the R5 growth stage using a tractor and compressed air sprayer calibrated to deliver 93.5 liters/ha at 2.66 kg/cm2 through 8002 flat fan nozzles. Plots were 5 rows wide (0.91 m row spacing) by 15.2 m and were arranged in a RCBD with 4 replications. The test was applied 9 Sep. At 1 d pretreatment (DPT) and 2 and 7 DAT, 1 beat-net sample (30 beats per sample) was taken from each plot with a standard 38.2 cm diam sweep net. No rainfall occurred during the test period.
