Experimental sprays were applied to single-tree plots in a randomized block design consisting of 4 replicates of ‘Rome Beauty’. Treated single trees were separated by others not sprayed with insecticides. The trees were 15 years old and spaced 12 X 35 ft apart. Treatments were applied with a Friend Airmaster sprayer calibrated to deliver 100 gpa at 2.0 mph for a complete spray. Treatments were applied on 22 Jun. All plots received a regular fungicide maintenance schedule of Topsin M 85DF, captan 50WP, Nova 40WP and Dithane 75WP. The effect of treatments on SA was evaluated by counting aphid-infested leaves/10 top terminals, and aphids/most infested leaf.
