A Note From the Editors

The Journal is pleased to introduce a new section entitled “Study Design.” Manuscripts published in this section include those in which the designs, methods, and procedures of specific epidemiologic studies, particularly large and/or multicenter studies, are described. For some years, such papers have been published in our “Practice of Epidemiology” section. However, given the importance of such papers for the prevention of publication bias, this special section has been created. To inaugurate this section, we are publishing a paper by Haas et al. (Am J Epidemiol. 2016;183(6):519– 530) in the present issue. We encourage investigators who are initiating a large or a multicenter study to consider submitting a paper to us detailing the study’s design and methods.
