We investigate alignments between the spin axes of cosmic voids and theprincipal axes of nearby superclusters using the Millennium Run simulation of aLCDM cosmology. The concept of void spin was first introduced by Lee and Parkin 2006 to quantify the tidal effect on voids from the surrounding matterdistribution. Our numerical analysis reveals that the void spin axes arestrongly aligned with the supercluster minor axes, but anti-aligned with themajor axes, and have no correlations with the intermediate axes. We providephysical explanations to this numerical results on the basis of tidally inducedcorrelations. It is expected that our work will provide a new insight into thecharacterization of the cosmic web on the largest scale.Comment: accepted by ApJ, revised version, improved analysis and discussion, 4 more figures added, 18 pages, 8 figure
