We study the motions of small solids, ranging from micron-sized dust grainsto meter-sized objects, in the vicinity of local pressure enhancements of agaseous nebula. Integrating numerically, we show that as a result of thecombined effect of gas drag and pressure gradients, solids tend to accumulateat the locations where the pressure of the gas maximizes. The rate of migrationof solids varies with their sizes and densities and also with the physicalproperties of the gas. The results of our numerical simulations indicate thatsuch migrations are most rapid for meter-sized objects. The applicability ofthe results to the enhancement of the collision and coagulation of solids andalso to the growth-rate of planetesimals is discussed.Comment: 27 pages, 15 figures, figures 1, 5, 11 and 15 in gif format (click on postscript), submitted for publicatio
