The generic name Weissia Rothwell and Taylor is determined to be a later homonym of Weissia Hedwig. Weissia Rothwell and Taylor is therefore renamed Weissistachys, and the appropriate name transfer is made for the type species, Weissistachys kentuckiensis (Rothwell et Taylor) comb nov
