The Editors of Thejournal ofExperimental Medicine have been notified by Dr . Ellis L . Reinherz of The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (Boston, MA) that he and the other authors ofthe article published inJune 1986 (163:1583-1588) and entitled "A lymphokine that activates the cytolytic program of both cytotoxic T lymphocyte and natural killer clones" wish to retract this information . In a letter dated November 14, 1986 and signed by Dr. Reinherz on behalf of Claudio Milanese, Robert F . Siliciano, Reinhold E . Schmidt, Jerome Ritz, Neil E . Richardson, and Ellis L . Reinherz of the Laboratory of Immunobiology, Division of Tumor Immunology, they state that the "biological data of the paper is not reproducible and incorrect [sic] . . . there is no 12 kD lymphokine with the functional attributes described in that publication ." They extend their apologies to the scientific community .
