The EU project RESLAG deals, inter alia, with the development of slag-based TES for CSP plant with open volumetric receiver. In this publication the status of work is presented. This includes the conception, the thermal preliminary design, thermodynamic studies on the cyclic charging and discharging dynamic behavior, as well as detailed investigations regarding the uniform flow distribution and thermo-mechanical stresses due to the packed bed characteristics.
