A study was performed on the interactions between surface acoustic waves (SAW) and a two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG) in the presence of spin-orbit (SO) interaction (SOI) induced by the Rashba effect. It was found that new channels for electronic transitions could be opened by the presence of SOI in a 2DEG. The results showed that an enhanced absorption of the SAWs by a 2DEG could be achieved through intra- and inter-SO electronic transition around the Fermi level.
