The Political Economy of Sovereign Wealth Funds

This thesis delivers a thorough theoretical analysis on different aspects of sovereign wealth funds (SWFs) from the political economic point of view. Despite the large amount of academic literature on SWFs, the political economy of this important class of institutional investors lacks theoretical foundations. The thesis makes a contribution to the existing literature on political economic aspects of SWFs and helps to round off the complex picture of these multifaceted investors’ motivation, investment objectives and strategies. Obwohl es eine Menge an Literatur uber Staatsfonds gibt, fehlen theoretische Grundlagen in der politokonomischen Analyse dieser wichtigen Klasse institutioneller Investoren. Die Dissertation tragt zur vorhandenen Literatur uber Staatsfonds bei und hilft, das komplexe Bild der Motivation, Investitionsziele und Strategien dieser facettenreichen Anleger zu vervollstandigen.
