Recent Trends in Euthanasia and Other End-of-Life Practices in Belgium

In surveys of physicians about patients who had died in Belgium, where euthanasia is legal, the rate of euthanasia increased between 2007 and 2013, from 1.9 to 4.6% of deaths. The increase resulted from a rise in both the number of requests for euthanasia and the proportion of requests granted.
