This study aimed to assess the use of transthoracic and transoesophageal echocardiography in diagnosing the thrombi located in the left atrium and/or left atrial appendage in patients with rheumatic mitral valve disease, and to investigate the characteristics of thrombi in comparison to intraoperative findings.
