Insight into RNA viruses

Ian Goodfellow is a Wellcome Trust Senior Fellow and a Professor of Virology at the University of Cambridge, based at Addenbrookes Hospital. He began his career in Virology as an undergraduate at Warwick University and has subsequently worked at a number of universities including Imperial College London and the University of Reading. Since 2003 his research has focused on the caliciviruses, a family of viruses probably most famous for including the gastroenteritis-causing norovirus or ‘winter-vomiting bug’. As well as being a senior figure in RNA virology research, he recently spent time in Sierra Leone helping to combat the Ebola epidemic.
