Educating and inspiring future scientists is of vital importance to the future of scientific progress and innovation, and it will also play a key role in supporting the UK economy. Indeed, recent research from the Royal Academy of Engineering suggests that the UK must increase the number of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) graduates by as much as 50% if it is to remain globally competitive.
