Creating, using, sharing and accessing information is an integral part of the research process. How scientists use information has changed dramatically in recent years as a result of technological innovations. Research funders, including Research Councils UK (RCUK), universities and the Wellcome Trust, have policies that encourage innovation in services to make sure the results of research are spread as widely and quickly as possible. Ensuring that research information provision and policies continue to develop with researchers' needs in mind is a central focus of the Research Information Network's (RIN) work.
