Confucius said that a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step, and so it was that a delegation of five representatives of the Biochemical Society set out to establish new relationships, and strengthen existing ties, by meeting with Chinese scientists, students, and members of the Chinese Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Some or all of the delegation visited Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou and Hong Kong between 1 and 10 September.
