Muciii attention has been given to the possible relationship between mast cells and tumours, and several investigators have studied the occurrence and distribution of mast cells in and around various human tumours. Staemmler (1921) observed them in many cases of mostly epithehal benign and mahgnant tumours, and Cornil and AEchon (1924) in two out of six cases of Von Reckhnghausen's neurofibromatosis.
