This work synthesizes and characterizes the first structurally characterized transoid six-coordinate thallium(III) porphyrin complex Tl(tpp)(OSO2CF3)(THF)·THF (1). The X-ray structure of 1 is also determined. Compound 1 is a distorted octahedron with O(1) (of triflato) and O(4) (of THF) in the trans position. This compound has a smaller Δ24 (= 0.295 A) and large core size (Ct‘···N = 2.128 A) than the corresponding Δ24 (= 0.74−1.06 A) and average Ct‘···N = 2.091 A for cisoid thallium(III) porphyrin complexes.
