This author presents a thoughtful discussion of the need for a consumer chemistry course and the thinking and assimilation process of students. The examples he provides of science and engineering majors' ill fated attempts at answering simple chemistry questions strengthen his argument while frustrating readers. In the mean time, we cannot graduate another generation of business majors, lawyers, and elementary school teachers who are afraid of chemistry.
