The paper deals with the results of the research into the new managerial competences evolved in the context of knowledge-based economies. 22 new managerial competences, primarily of “soft” nature, are surveyed from the point of view of the importance managers attach to them as well as frequency and motivation of managers to utilize them in real life. The results are presented for Slovak managers compared to the managers from other EU countries
