Time-dependent Service Quality of Network Sections

The traffic state in road networks and the corresponding quality of traffic flow is significantly influenced not only by the travel demand but also by road works, accidents or weather conditions. Current guidelines do not yet consider these dynamic effects. In order to overcome these shortcomings, the paper presents the results of a research project which investigates travel times of a complete year for network sections in motorway and urban road networks.
