Digital payment methods within Polish students - leading decision characteristics

The major purpose of this research is to analyze current state of use of various payment methods. The research was divided into 4 subject focused sections: volume and frequency of different payment methods, expectations/payment methods and their fulfilment (maturity), technology trust aspects, expectations that respondents foresee within the next 5 years. The research was executed choosing focus group of students (seen as future users and creators of a new trends in the area of digital payment area). The following structure was applied: short introduction to the digital payment including reference to the national research executed in 2019, definition of research method, analysis and discussion of identified outputs. A group of over four hundred randomly selected people from the university was examined. Conducted survey identified following elements: majority of payment transactions are made with physical credit/debit card, cash, and e-banking. Identified ranking was proved at several levels including: frequency of operations, level of maturity and technological trust level. Included in the research blockchain based payment methods were identified as not popular within the chosen focus group but with high potential for the future development.
