This paper proposed a fall detection system based on point cloud. Kinect is used to get the depth data of living environment of human body, drawing the pixels in human real space coordinates through mapping in depth, height change acceleration of the human point cloud gained are used to determine a potential fall activity. The Arduino microprocessor handles the receiving data in real time and notifies the guardian through the GSM module. The experimental results showed that the system is capable of precisely realizing the effective recognition and alarm for the falling action of timely response and has a high precision detection and effectiveness.
