The components, structure and technologies of the interactive interface, focused on semantic search as a part of the cognitive process, are considered. The task of such interface is to form a trajectory for the new knowledge synthesis on a base of fragments (meanings) of found documents. Indexes, search mechanisms and results presentation forms are considered as operational components of the interface (entry points). The search trajectory is realized both by traditional retrieval mechanisms, and by moving between the associated visual elements within the search results. Contextual visual highlighting of terms within the displayed document is used as a means of organizing the process. The terms of the current query are highlighted, as well as the terms of related topics specified by profiled vocabulary. This increases the variety of entry points plus by improving the “visibility” of key aspects of the document, and makes it possible to realize a person’s multifaceted search within the framework of a monothematic request-response act.
