Sophisticated technological advancements are enriching our daily lives and the society at large. The future Internet is a ubiquitous and ambient environment with frameworks to compose, control, and manage real-world things, like appliances, systems, and infrastructures. The new developments in this area raise many research questions including interaction, security, collaboration, context, discovery, and privacy of physical things in the virtual world. Despite the tremendous progress in Internet technologies the research community continues to wrestle with some of these questions. The challenge is to design intelligent systems and networks that communicate and adapt, automatically and seamlessly at real-time over the Internet.
