Sondaje de vía lagrimal después del año de edad para el tratamiento de la dacrioestenosis congénita

ResumenEn muchos estudios, el sondaje de la vía lagrimal se ha reportado con un alto índice de éxito, siempre y cuando se realice antes del primer año de vida.ObjetivoEvaluar la utilidad del sondaje de la vía lagrimal de forma tardía, después del año de edad.Material y métodoEn el presente estudio se analizaron 20 pacientes mayores de 12 meses con dacrioestenosis congénita.ResultadosEn el 35% de los casos se obtuvo éxito total con resolución de síntomas y prueba de fluoresceína negativa, en el 35% de los casos hubo éxito parcial con resolución de los síntomas y prueba de fluoresceína positiva y el 30% se consideraron como fracaso sin resolución de los síntomas y prueba de fluoresceína positiva.ConclusionesDespués del año hay un 35% de éxito total que se mantiene igual en los diferentes grupos de edad.AbstractThe approach of the lachrymal path has been reported with a high success rate in many studies when done within the first year of life.PurposeTo evaluate the usefulness of the late lachrymal probing, after one year of age.Material and methodsIn the present study we analyzed 20 patients age over 12 months old with congenital dacryostenosis.ResultsSuccess was obtained in 35% of cases with resolution of symptoms and negative fluorescein test, 35% of cases presented im partial success with resolution of symptoms and positive fluorescein test and 30% were considered as failure without resolution of symptoms and positive fluorescein test.ConclusionsThere is a 35% overall success when treating patients older than 12 months which stays the same in the different age groups
