JMRT: the top Latin America originated materials journal

There was an outstanding increase from 2014 to 2015. This is significant and JMRT is now ranked first among Latin American Materials journals. This stellar performance is the result of the tireless work by the Associate Editors in judiciously selecting the best papers from the numerous submissions received globally. It also reflects the quality of the contributed and invited papers, which are at the level of the leading materials journals. The rate of acceptance of JMRT is less than 49%, making it a very selective journal. Indeed, JMRT is reaching the recognition that will put it among leading global materials journals. At the same time, Thomson has included JMRT into the Emerging Sources Citation Index (SSCI). This is an important step toward full inclusion in ISI, something that we hope to accomplish soon. Emerging Sources Citation Index is a new edition in Web of Science Core Collection. The Core Collection Journal Selection Process now includes a set of fundamental criteria that govern the selection of Journals for ESCI. The selection process for ESCI is related to the process applied to SCIE, SSCI and AHCI. Another important development that will impact JMRT directly is the Third Pan American Materials Congress, to be held in San Diego in conjunction with the Annual TMS meeting, from February 26 to. March 2. As we did in 2014 at the Second Pan American Congress, we plan to publish selected papers from the congress. Following the success of the First and Second Pan American Materials events, the Third Congress, will continue to enhance the collaborations among materials researchers and practitioners in the Americas. One of the hoped for results of this effort is the formation of a Federation of American Materials Societies. Materials societies from Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, US, and hopefully Venezuela are joining the effort and supporting the congress.
