Statins and cholesterol absorption inhibitors lower the concentration of C-reactive protein (CRP). The genetic polymorphism of apolipoprotein (apo) E is a strong endogenous determinant of sterol homeostasis. We therefore examined the relationship of CRP to the apoE polymorphism.
