With minimal skin and SMAS undermining, as well as a rotation point that is closest to the nasolabial folds and jowls, the "anterior vertical SMAS lift" reduces the risk of hematoma while optimizing direct pull on those surface features that require improvement. The vertical rotation enhances the malar region and decreases preauricular skin excision. Further, the author has found this technique very effective in treating nasolabial folds in the aging face.
