Adult stem cells may have significant aesthetic surgery applications. Their replicative capacity and plasticity may be useful in engineering autologous grafts for soft tissue and facial skeletal augmentation. Another possibility is that increasing the concentration of mesenchymal stem cells in the facial soft tissue at regular intervals during adulthood will maintain volume and elasticity.
