The rise of the V’O2AT and the WRAT was slightly but non significantly higher in the ACE inhibitors group than in the control. Among hypertensive patients with DD/DI genotype (high ACE activity), ACE inhibition was not associated with a better improvement in exercise endurance after training. Thus, despite the apparent advantage of the II ACE polymorphism (low ACE activity) on fitness, ACE activity is not the direct modulator of the effect of training.
