. In this paper we prove that a finite group G with Cohen-Macaulay mod p cohomology will have non-trivial undetectable elements in $H^*(G,{\Bbb F}_p)$ if and only if G is a p-group such that every element of order p in G is central. Applications and examples are also provided.
