This paper analyzes the effect of diversity on reducing fading in the controlled capacity digital radio systems. As a result, it is clarified that an improvement of one to three times in the traffic throughput can be obtained if diversity is combined with the controlled capacity system. Moreover, the performance of the diversity system is compared with the controlled capacity system when both are employed separately and it is made clear that the improvement effects of the controlled capacity system correspond to those of two‐ to four‐fold diversity in fixed‐capacity systems.
