Autotransfusion is the collection and reinfusion of the patient's own blood. This technique can help in response to the increasing demand for blood and the heightening awareness of transfusion morbidity 1 . A simple, low cost, perioperative autotransfusion technique that can be easily practised by all surgeons is described.
