Key Points Question What are the comparative efficacy and safety of dabigatran and rivaroxaban compared with warfarin in patients with multiple chronic conditions? Findings In this comparative effectiveness analysis, stroke rates were similar between the 3 drugs. However, bleeding rates were significantly higher with rivaroxaban compared with the other 2 drugs, while mortality rates were lower with dabigatran and rivaroxaban compared with warfarin. Meaning Rivaroxaban and dabigatran are effective in elderly patients with multiple chronic conditions, but dabigatran appears to be associated with lower bleeding rates.
