The central nervous system (CNS) is an important site of HIV infection. As many as one quarter of AIDS patients present with neurological symptoms and up to 75% of the patients may have CNS abnormalities at autopsy. Under these circumstances therefore, differential diagnoses in HIV-positive patients with neurological symptoms constitute a management challenge.
