Salusins are multifunctional endogenous peptides shown in human and rat tissues. Serum salusin α level is decreased in coronary artery disease and lack of salusin α enhances coronary atherosclerosis. Hypothyroidism is a chronic inflammatory disease that has a high risk of developing cardiovascular disease. Here we aimed to search the relationship of overt hypothyroidism and subclinical hypothyroidism with salusin α and other inflammatory markers, also the effect of L-thyroxine treatment on these findings.
